Teacher Educators’ Professional Development in an International Context
Teacher Educators’ Professional Development in an International Context: A Comparative Study of Policy Developments and Local Practices
In an increasingly interconnected world, there is a growing need for teacher education institutions to meet the emerging challenges of increased openness, cross-national and cross-institutional collaboration, promoted by the Bologna agreement and the broader Europeanisation process. A central role in opening teacher education to an international and global context is given to teacher educators, including all those who actively facilitate the (formal) learning of student teachers and teachers. The aim of this project is to comparatively examine policies and practices in Austria and France related to the internationalisation of teacher educators’ professional development by analysing national policy frameworks, policies of higher education institutions, and practices that teacher educators are undertaking locally.
The project is coordinated by Dr. Vasileios Symeonidis and is conducted in partnership with the Higher National Institute for Teaching and Education (Institut National Supérieur du Professorat et de l'Éducation: INSPE) at the Aix-Marseille University in France and has received funding from the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD), under the WTZ grant agreement FR 03/2021.
