Empirical educational research
We present our research area in more detail
The Department of Empirical Educational Research deals with questions of the interplay of social change, system changes, heterogeneity and inequality as well as the prerequisites for educational processes in different educational systems at different levels of the educational system. One focus is on empirical school research, whereby macro-systemic approaches and questions of school development are examined in particular. The other focus is on issues relating to the design of teacher education and practice from an international comparative perspective, with particular emphasis on Europeanization, continuity and professionalization.
Internationality characterizes us as a team and our research: We are currently involved in various international networks and committees that are committed to promoting educational science and teacher education worldwide. These include Teacher Education Policy in Europe (TEPE), European Doctorate in Teacher Education (EDiTE), International Forum for Teacher Educator Development (InFo-TED),European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), European Educational Research Association (EERA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Erziehungswissenschaft (DGFE), Österreichische Gesellschaft für Forschung und Entwicklung im Bildungswesen (ÖFEB), Rethink Education and Science in Iraq (RESI), International Association of the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA).As the founder of the Rethink Education and Science in Iraq (RESI) university partnership, Prof. Dr. HeikeWendt was nominated as a finalist for the Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs of the Year 2021 Award in the Future Learning category.
